Learn about eligibility criteria, exam dates, and previous year passing rates for one of India's most respected commerce qualifications- CA May 2025

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the official schedule for the CA May 2025 examinations, marking a significant milestone for commerce students aspiring to build a career in accountancy. As per the notification, the CA Final exams are scheduled from May 2 to May 13, the CA Intermediate exams will be conducted from May 3 to May 14, and the CA Foundation exams will take place on May 15, 17, 19, and 21. The Chartered Accountancy program follows a well-defined three-tier structure—Foundation, Intermediate, and Final—each level testing both academic knowledge and practical understanding, making it one of the most rigorous professional qualifications in the country.
In terms of eligibility, candidates who wish to appear for the Foundation exam must have completed or be currently appearing for their Class 12 examinations from a recognized board. For the Intermediate level, aspirants are eligible either after clearing the Foundation exam or through the direct entry route, which allows commerce graduates with a minimum of 55% marks (or 60% for non-commerce graduates) to apply directly. To sit for the Final exams, candidates must have successfully passed both groups of the Intermediate exam and completed the required period of article ship training. The CA exams are known for their rigorous standards and low pass percentages, reflecting the profession’s high benchmark. As per ICAI’s previous year statistics, the CA Foundation pass rate stood at around 25-30%, the Intermediate (both groups) hovered near 10-15%, while the Final (both groups) saw a pass rate of approximately 8-12%.
These numbers emphasize not only the difficulty of the exams but also the prestige and respect that come with qualifying. For students committed to a career in accounting and finance, the May 2025 exam window represents both a challenge and a significant opportunity to advance toward one of India’s most respected professional qualifications.
