CBSE Introduces Global Curriculum for 2026-27 Academic Year
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to launch a global curriculum for its overseas schools, with potential availability for CBSE-affiliated and international institutions in India.
Scheduled for implementation in the 2026-27 academic session, this initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) to offer a flexible, globally competitive learning experience. CBSE’s foreign schools will be the first to adopt the curriculum, while other international and Indian CBSE schools may also integrate it.
Previously, CBSE introduced the CBSE-i curriculum in 2010 to emphasize inquiry-based and skill-oriented learning. However, due to limited adoption, it was discontinued in 2017. Now, the board is re-entering the international education sector with an updated framework that balances Indian and global standards, positioning CBSE alongside Cambridge International and IB.
Finalization is underway, and the new curriculum is expected to provide a well-rounded, internationally aligned educational structure by April 2026.
