About the Role:
As a Scala Developer at IBM, you will play a key role in the design, development, and support of cutting-edge applications that support our clients’ hybrid-cloud and AI strategies. You'll be part of a collaborative, cross-functional team, engaging in every phase of the software development lifecycle—from concept to deployment.
This position offers the opportunity to work with modern technologies while ensuring performance, scalability, and maintainability in a dynamic, agile environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement both front-end and back-end applications using Scala.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to understand requirements and take part in the design, development, and testing of robust software solutions.
Follow industry best practices in code quality, testing, and deployment throughout the development lifecycle.
Contribute ideas to continuously improve systems and processes.
Clearly articulate complex technical concepts to team members and stakeholders without a technical background.
Engage in IBM’s customer craft communities, sharing thought leadership and best practices.
Required Technical & Professional Expertise:
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on development experience.
Proven systems administration experience for Scala applications.
Proficiency with J2EE, JBoss, Jenkins, Ansible, Git.
Solid understanding of Agile Scrum methodologies.
Experienced in working with Java, Spring Framework, Web Services, JMS, MDB, JUnit, and JIRA, demonstrating strong practical expertise.
Resident of the UK with continuous residency for the last 5 years.
Ability to obtain UK government security clearance.
Preferred Experience (Desirable but not mandatory):
Experience in designing, creating, and executing both functional and non-functional test cases.
Familiarity with tools such as Confluence, Selenium, JIRA, Test Data Management Tools, and Performance Testing Tools.
