WBJEE 2025 Eligibility: Age, Qualification & Criteria
WBJEE 2025

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) 2025 is a crucial state-level entrance test for students seeking admission to undergraduate engineering, pharmacy, and architecture courses offered by colleges and universities in West Bengal. One of the first steps in preparing for WBJEE is understanding the eligibility criteria, which include age restrictions and academic requirements. For engineering (B.Tech) aspirants, candidates must have passed their 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or Computer Science as an optional subject. Additionally, they must have secured at least 45% aggregate marks (40% for reserved categories) in these subjects taken together. For B.Pharma programs, Physics and Chemistry are mandatory along with either Mathematics or Biology, with the same percentage requirements applying. Candidates must also have passed English with a minimum of 30% marks. These academic qualifications must be obtained from a recognized board or institution, and all aspirants should be aware that their eligibility is verified at the time of counseling and admission—making it essential to meet the specified criteria before applying.

In terms of age criteria, candidates appearing for WBJEE 2025 must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2025, meaning their date of birth must be on or before December 31, 2008. For general engineering and pharmacy courses, there is no upper age limit, providing flexibility to older candidates. However, for admission into Marine Engineering, the age criteria are more stringent—the candidate must be at least 17 years and not more than 25 years old as of December 31, 2025. Apart from these, candidates must be Indian citizens, and some institutions may have additional domicile requirements specific to West Bengal for seat reservation purposes. Domicile is particularly important for availing benefits under reserved categories or for admission to government and state-funded institutions. The WBJEEB (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board) also requires applicants to fill in personal, academic, and domicile details accurately during the registration process. Failing to meet any of these eligibility conditions can lead to disqualification during later stages like counseling or document verification. Hence, candidates are strongly advised to go through the official brochure and stay updated with any changes on the official WBJEE website to ensure smooth participation in the examination and admission process.
