UP Police Assistant Operator Eligibility 2025: Age & Criteria
UP Police Assistant Operator Eligibility

The UP Police Assistant Operator Recruitment 2025 presents an excellent opportunity for candidates aspiring to join the Uttar Pradesh Police Department's Radio Cadre. As this position plays a vital technical role in communication and operations, the eligibility criteria have been carefully structured to select capable and qualified individuals. The foremost aspect candidates must check before applying is the age limit. For the general category, applicants must be between 18 and 22 years old as of the cut-off date mentioned in the official notification. This typically means candidates should be born between 01 July 2000 and 01 July 2004. However, age relaxation rules apply for reserved categories. SC, ST, OBC, and other categories may receive up to 5 years of upper age relaxation, while ex-servicemen and state employees may be eligible for further relaxations as per state government policies. Ensuring the correct age range is crucial as ineligible candidates will be disqualified at the document verification stage.

Beyond the age requirement, aspirants must also meet specific educational qualifications to be eligible for the Assistant Operator role. Candidates must have passed their 10+2 (Intermediate) examination from a recognized board with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. This educational foundation is essential because the Assistant Operator's role involves handling sensitive communication equipment, frequency modulation systems, and radio protocols—all requiring technical understanding. Additionally, applicants must satisfy physical standards, which are critical for police recruitment. Male candidates from the General, OBC, and SC categories must have a minimum height of 168 cm and a chest measurement of 79 cm (unexpanded) and 84 cm (expanded). For male ST candidates, the height requirement is 160 cm with proportionate chest measurements. For female candidates, the height requirement is 152 cm for General, OBC, and SC categories, and 147 cm for ST candidates. These physical measurements are strictly enforced during physical verification stages and are non-negotiable. Moreover, candidates should be prepared for multiple stages of selection, including a written examination, physical efficiency test (PET), document verification, and a medical test. The written exam will likely test subjects like General Knowledge, Science, Reasoning, and Technical Awareness. Therefore, meeting eligibility is just the first step—candidates must also prepare thoroughly for the competitive selection process.
